- Over the last 20 years, 80-85% of PA's legislative races have been effectively determined in the primary – with no opposition or only token opposition in the general election. [BallotPA]

- 75% of primary voters surveyed support open primaries – including 85% of progressive Democrats, and 70% of Republicans. [BallotPA]

- When PA's closed primary law was passed in 1937, only 2% of registered voters statewide were Independents – in some counties that number has grown to close to 20%. [BallotPA]
