*July 3, 2024*
Hello Freedom lovers!
*Where did June go? And born on the 4th of July!*
This past month has been full of many great events where I got to connect with thousands of constituents and leaders across our district, including graduation, birthday, and retirement parties, a Hockey Association Golf Tournament, ribbon cuttings, and community meetings. I also had the opportunity to attend a tax policy seminar with the Institute for State Policy Leaders and attend the Board of Latino Legislative Leaders Policy Summit. I'm proud to serve on their executive board!

It was a whirlwind first month after session, but wonderful to connect with many of you already.

*I look forward to connecting with many more of you at next week’s annual _Panorama of Progress (Pan O Prog) _ and celebrating my 52nd birthday on the 4th of July!*
Please say hello as I will be around much of the week.
New Laws
On July 1 of this year, several new laws went into effect here in Minnesota. A full list of the new laws can be viewed here [ [link removed] ], but I want to take the time to highlight one very impactful provision - the *new tax on deliveries*.
Passed in 2023, the new delivery tax will apply to most orders over $100 including necessities like diapers, clothing, pet and office supplies, and other household essentials. *The new tax is projected to raise $189 million* in revenue and is just one of the many new or increased taxes & fees implemented (including a gas tax increase) this biennium while the Democrat majority spent the record-breaking surplus!

More Fraud, Including Lakeville
Over the past month or so more details on several instances of fraud have come to light including two reports from the Legislative Auditor on $200 million in new frontline worker pay fraud and more details on the Feeding Our Future scheme. Those reports can be read here [ [link removed] ]. Both reports show an unbelievable lack of oversight by the Democrat majority.
There have also been several new news articles that have reported on suspected instances of fraud including a development in *"Lakeville"* that was purchased with money stolen in the Feeding Our Future scheme. American Experiment [ [link removed] ] reported on this back in April, and KSTP released an article [ [link removed] ] on the topic a few days ago.
_We need balanced government, not reckless one party control, to stop these abuses of your tax dollars!_

Accomplishments This Session
Briefly, here is a look back a few key items I helped accomplished for our district.
First, I coauthored HF 3662 [ [link removed] ] and supported other commonsense solutions to help our environment. This law aims to establish a "Keep It Clean" program to prevent water pollution due to garbage and waste left on the ice during winter use activities like ice fishing. *Keeping our lakes and rivers healthy is a priority and preventing pollution from entering our waterways is a keyway to accomplish this goal.*
Next,* I proudly advocated for public safety grants to support domestic abuse victims*! My bill, HF 5391 [ [link removed] ] provided funding to the Southern Valley Alliance so that they can further their mission of providing services and resources to victims, usually women.
I also passed into law as chief author of HF 506 [ [link removed] ] that provides a funding for mental health* equine therapy for FIRST RESPONDERS*. It's been shown that equine therapy is an effective way to improve mental health. Here is a short video link [ [link removed] ] about it.
Finally, we have heard a lot about the County Road 2 bridge and I will continue working on *long term improvements for County Road 2 in Elko New Market, as well as other district projects like Interstate 35 and Cty 50*. While an infrastructure bill didn't end up passing this year, I remain committed to providing necessary public infrastructure and as Chief Author and a ranking member I will continue to advocate for these critical projects that help all of us.
*Celebrate Safely!*
Enjoy your holiday, remember that we must celebrate and defend the important freedoms that still offer us so much opportunity and the greatest quality of life.
My grandma used to tell me the 4th of July fireworks were just for my birthday, but I learned early on it was about "_liberty, freedom and a celebration of hard-fought Independence!_"
