Trump’s Sentencing in NYC Possibly Delayed as Judge Weighs Supreme Court Decision

National Review: President Donald Trump’s criminal sentencing for falsifying business records, originally scheduled for July 11, will likely be delayed for at least two weeks as the judge in the case weighs whether a recent Supreme Court decision clarifying the scope of presidential immunity will impact his conviction. Manhattan prosecutors revealed in court filings on Tuesday that they will not oppose Trump’s motion to postpone his criminal sentencing, which Trump filed just after the Supreme Court ruled that presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for acts that fall within their “core constitutional powers.” The delay means that Trump likely won’t be sentenced until after he is officially nominated at the Republican National Convention, which begins July 15 (National Review). Katie Pavlich: In its ruling on immunity, the Supreme Court kicked the question of what defines an official or unofficial act by a president back to the lower courts. Given the New York case was about falsifying business records, Trump’s efforts to get his convictions wiped out sets up the lower courts for that debate (Townhall).

Texas Democrat First Office Holder to Demand Biden Step Aside
NBC: Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, became the first sitting Democrat in Congress to call for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, citing his poor debate performance and the fact that Biden “has trailed Donald Trump” all year in surveys. While numerous Democrats have privately expressed concerns or suggested anonymously that Biden leave the race, Doggett, who is 77, is the first lawmaker to say it openly. He represents a blue district based in Austin, Texas and has served in Congress since 1995 (NBC). Associated Press: Biden himself conceded the debate didn’t go well for him, but he insisted he was ready to fight for a second term as president. The president and his campaign have not directly responded to Democrats’ criticism of his performance, choosing instead to send surrogates on cable news to defend it as a bad night and draw a clear contrast between him and Trump (Associated Press).

53 Arrested at Chicago Pride Parade After Attacks on Police
National Review: Fifty-three people, including nine minors, were arrested early Monday morning after the Chicago Pride Parade. “Following the parade and into the night, officers had objects thrown at them and multiple officers were injured while working to keep the area safe. Our officers, who exhibited great restraint and patience, recovered four firearms while responding to these crowds,” the Chicago Police Department wrote. “More than 50 arrests were made in connection to this post-parade activity, including felony arrests for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery against a police officer, aggravated assault of a transit employee, and armed habitual criminal,” the police department’s statement continued. Fourteen of those arrested face felony counts, with charges including aggravated battery of a transit employee, aggravated battery of a police officer, and drug possession. Twenty-four of those arrested were charged with various misdemeanors, including reckless conduct, battery, assault, and criminal damage to property (National Review). Fox News: The arrests came on the same day that violence broke out in New York City after a Pride parade in Manhattan, with the disorder stretching on for hours (Fox News).

Biden Calls Americans Who Do Not Agree With Him on Climate Change “Really Dumb”
RedState: The Democrats are still in a major meltdown trying to figure out how to deal with Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance. The problem for them? Though they might want to pitch it as a “one-off,” they have to keep putting Biden out there so long as he remains the candidate, and he’s going to continue to be incoherent and do embarrassing things. That’s not only concerning for him being a candidate but for him occupying the highest office in the land. On Tuesday, they had him visit the D.C. Emergency Operations Center and give remarks in regard to extreme weather (RedState). RNC Research: Biden smears Americans who aren’t full-blown, five-alarm-fire climate alarmists as “really dumb” (X).

ICE Releases Dozens of Illegals Who Stormed Border
Rewarding bad behavior only encourages more bad behavior. New York Post: They took part in a riot at the border — and then were welcomed into the US. Dozens of migrants who were accused of violently storming the border at El Paso, Texas on March 21 have been released into the country, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson confirmed. It’s the latest shocking gut-punch to accountability after 211 migrants were caught on video by rushing toward the US border and attacking Texas National Guardsmen who tried to turn them back to Mexico. In May, an El Paso judge dismissed the criminal charges against all of the border-crossers on a technicality. The migrants accused of taking part in the riot were then released from state custody and handed over to ICE, which set 43 of them free… A Homeland Security source said the reality is much more arbitrary. ICE releases migrants into the US because they can’t deport them fast enough and because authorities need to make room at detention centers for the worst of the worst (New York Post).

Leaked Poll From Democrats Show Biden Trailing Each Battleground State After Debate
Townhall: The Biden White House wants to move on from last Thursday night’s disastrous debate. Still, the American electorate and the Democratic donor base refuse to let it slide for a simple reason: Joe Biden was a total trainwreck. To boot, the Biden operation has yet to accept or listen to concerns from the party’s biggest supporters, instead opting to go full ‘Baghdad Bob’ by giving a full-throated defense of the president’s health. More bad news: OpenLabs, a progressive nonprofit polling and messaging firm, drafted a memo on the fallout for Biden post-debate. As you expect, it was downright brutal, with the president suffering a massive slide in every key battleground state. Forty percent of his 2020 supporters think he should drop out (Townhall). Reporter Peter Hamby: Leaked polling from Democratic data firm OpenLabs shows Biden sinking in battleground states putting states like Virginia, NH, New Mexico in play for Trump. AND now – Harris, Whitmer, Newsom, Pete outpolling him in swing states (X).

National Education Association to Vote on Charging Israel With Genocide
What does this have to do with educating children? National Review: National Education Association members will vote on several anti-Israel resolutions at the union’s annual “Representative Assembly” in Philadelphia this week, including the adoption of an official position holding that Israel is conducting a “genocide” in Gaza and that opposing the Jewish state’s existence is not antisemitic, documents obtained by National Review show. Two items of business would have the NEA “use existing digital communication tools to educate members about the difference between anti-Zionism and antisemitism” (National Review).

Texas Called on to Investigate Medicaid Fraud, Protect Whistleblowers Who Exposed Hospitals for Performing Gender Surgeries
Newsmax: Dr. Eithan Haim, a Texas doctor who calls himself a whistleblower on transgender care for minors, told Newsmax that the Department of Justice is attempting to silence dissent over gender-transitioning surgeries. Haim, who faces multiple counts of violations of the federal law restricting release of medical information, accused the DOJ of using intimidation tactics (Newsmax). Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison: Texas must not sit idly by while Biden wages LAWFARE against brave whistleblowers who have exposed credible claims of CHILD ABUSE and MEDICAID FRAUD at Texas Children’s Hospital (X). Christopher Rufo: It’s time for Texas Health and Human Services to investigate alleged Medicaid fraud at Texas Children’s Hospital. If these doctors were defrauding the public to pay for child sex-change procedures, they should be sent to prison. That’s how this scandal ends (X).

Whistleblower Reveals FBI Brass Believes Conservatives are “Unworthy” to Work at the Agency
Just the News: An FBI supervisor is blowing the whistle on his own organization, alleging to the Justice Department’s chief watchdog and Congress that the bureau has been improperly suspending or revoking the security clearances of agents it believes hold conservative political views. The new whistleblower’s allegations surfaced Tuesday in correspondence that was sent to the House and Senate Judiciary committees and DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, dramatically claiming that as a supervisory special agent he witnessed efforts by senior FBI brass to target employees who supported Donald Trump or opposed COVID-19 vaccines. The agent alleged he and other agents who voiced concerns were retaliated against with transfers or suspensions, the letter states (Just the News). New York Post: The unnamed agent, who is described as “a registered Democrat” and is represented by the nonprofit Empower Oversight, further claims that high-ranking officials in the division believed “if an FBI employee fit a certain profile as a political conservative, they were viewed as security concerns and unworthy to work at the FBI” (New York Post).

Former Biden Official Gets Sweetheart Plea Deal Instead of Prison Time
National Review: Former Biden-administration nuclear official Sam Brinton, charged with felony suitcase theft, pleaded guilty to petit larceny in a sweetheart plea deal in Virginia that results in no jail time for him. Brinton, who identifies as non-binary, uses they/them pronouns, and dresses in women’s clothes, worked as deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Nuclear Energy before being sacked following his luggage-theft scandal. His appointment as a nuclear-waste official in the Biden administration was widely touted as a historic accomplishment for the LGBT community (National Review). Free Beacon: The disgraced former Department of Energy official pleaded guilty to petit larceny as part of a sweetheart deal that will see him serve no jail time after facing felony charges that carried a sentence of up to 20 years. State prosecutors quietly announced the plea deal during a hearing last week in Arlington General District Court, which is just an eight-minute drive from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport where Brinton stole a Tanzanian female fashion designer’s luggage containing her custom designs six years ago. According to prosecutors, Brinton entered into an adult diversion program, which requires him to undergo mental health treatment, write a letter of apology, and complete 50 hours of community service helping the elderly. As part of the deal, the charges against Brinton were amended from grand larceny, a felony offense, to petit larceny, a misdemeanor (Free Beacon).
