Yesterday, the arch-conservative U.S. Supreme Court dealt a severe blow to our democracy and handed a massive victory to Donald Trump. Its landmark ruling gives presidents — including Trump — immunity from criminal prosecution for “official acts” taken while in the White House and makes it far more difficult to present evidence of crimes unrelated to official acts.   

Vox said it best: 

“The Supreme Court’s Trump immunity decision is a blueprint for dictatorship.”

Now more than ever, we must do everything in our power to defeat Donald Trump and kick MAGA Republicans who will do his bidding — including attempting to overturn election results — out of state legislatures in key swing states.

Our democracy is at stake in this election, and we must shift the balance of power and build a powerful line of defense in the states.

Here’s just one example of who our candidates are up against: 

Sister District candidate Judy Schwiebert is facing a GOP opponent who wrote a proposal to allow state lawmakers to override Arizona voters’ presidential choice — two months after receiving emails from Ginni Thomas, Clarence Thomas’ wife, urging her to overturn Biden’s victory in Arizona. 

We can defeat MAGA Republican lawmakers in states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina and replace them with progressive champions who will fight to protect our democracy. 

But our candidates need your help. State legislative races are often overlooked and underfunded, which means our brilliant champions need the resources to reach voters, withstand attacks, and fend off outside GOP spending.
