Yesterday, the Supreme Court delivered two big wins for the rule of law in America.
First, the Court limited obstruction charges against January 6th defendants.
This was a win against Joe Biden’s abuse of power. Biden’s Department of Justice stretched the law in a way that belongs in a banana republic, not America.
They manipulated a statue to imprison grandmas wearing MAGA hats who were within a country mile of the Capitol on January 6th — but they tolerate violent crime and a wide open border.
I was proud to lead the amicus brief in this case, and I’m glad the Court ruled the way it did.
Second, the Court protected the Constitution with its ruling on presidential immunity.
Our Founders wanted presidents to have immunity from lawless political prosecutions.
Now, it’s time for the lower courts to throw out Joe Biden’s corrupt, partisan charges against President Trump.
In America, elections are decided by the voters at the ballot box — not corrupt politicians and prosecutors.
Tom Cotton was born and raised on his family’s cattle farm in Arkansas, served as an Army infantry officer in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is fighting for working Americans in the U.S. Senate.
The tragic attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred during Tom’s final year of law school and changed his life’s trajectory.
After clerking on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and spending a short time in private law practice, he joined the United States Army as an Infantry Officer, spending nearly five years on active duty.
Between his two combat tours he served as a platoon leader with the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, the unit responsible for military honors funerals.
Tom’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Ranger Tab.
In the U.S. Senate, he’s fighting the tough battles for Arkansans and Americans, and delivering real results. He knows that only the strong can survive in a dangerous world, and he’s building a movement to make America strong again.
Senator Cotton was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
