LULAC STATEMENT ON HHS SPANISH LANGUAGE RESOURCE HUB
====================================================
Washington, DC – The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the
nation's oldest and largest Latino Civil Rights Organization, applauds the Biden
Administration, Secretary Xavier Becerra, and the entire Health and Human
Services (HHS) team for launching a Spanish language resource hub on the HHS
website today.
LULAC CEO, Juan Proaño stated the following:
“Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the launch of
its MedicamentosBajoPrecio.gov [ [link removed] ] ,
a Spanish language resource hub created to ensure those with Medicare are aware
of all of the ways beneficiaries may evaluate and receive more information on
prescription drug savings thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Here at LULAC, we strive to ensure that Latino communities can access health
information, especially as it relates to their wellbeing, in Spanish. HHS’s
user-friendly website will be a one-stop-shop for those looking to find
information regarding the drug pricing provisions outlined in the Inflation
Reduction Act, the implementation process, as well as additional resources for
Medicare enrollees and other interested parties.”
LULAC Director of Research and Policy, Dr. Ray Serrano added:
“We're dedicated to dismantling barriers for Latinos and underserved communities
across the U.S., particularly those related to access to information and informed
choice. Our focus is on smart investments and partnerships that align with our
vision of equity and create opportunities for all. Today's announcement moves us
closer to that goal. LULAC applauds the Biden Administration, Secretary Xavier
Becerra, and the HHS team for their efforts in making this happen.
