Dear neighbors,
I want to thank everyone who joined our Virtual Town Hall Meeting last week with Rep. Liish Kozlowski and Sen. Jen McEwen. Under DFL leadership at the Capitol the past two years, we?ve worked together to deliver transformative progress for Minnesotans to create a future where Minnesotans can succeed and thrive, no matter where they live or what they look like. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with neighbors to recap this important work, while also looking ahead to the results the community is looking for in the future.
As you may have heard by now, last week I announced my plans to step down from the Legislature this coming Friday. While I had already planned to not seek reelection this fall, this was still a difficult decision, and I will deeply miss serving my Duluth neighbors. I want to sincerely thank everyone for the opportunity to serve our community at the State Capitol.
It?s been extremely rewarding to work alongside members of a community who are so engaged and committed to building a state that works better for everyone. With your support, during my time at the Capitol we were able to develop new strategies and boost funding for child care, hold drugmakers accountable for their role in the opioid crisis, guarantee Earned Sick and Safe Time for workers across the state, increase resources for mental health, deliver robust infrastructure investments for Duluth and the Twin Ports, pass a transformational two-year budget to position Minnesota for the future, and much more.
Ensuring folks have access to a helpful, listening ear has weighed heavily upon me as I made this decision. While I may no longer be in office, please know a listening, helpful ear is still available if you need assistance navigating anything to do with state government. Reach out to Sen. Jen McEwen at 651-296-4188 or [email protected], or the District 8A office which will remain staffed by Leah at [email protected].
Thank you so much for being alongside me on this incredible journey.
Sincerely,
Liz Olson State Representative
