Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court made its decision on Trump v. United States, concluding with a dark departure from a foundational pillar of our democracy — that no person is above the law.

The Court ruled that a president has absolute immunity from prosecution for official actions while simultaneously refusing to draw a clear line between what constitutes official and unofficial actions.

Effectively, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court has elevated the presidency to a law-free zone.

This is unacceptable. Full stop. Help me protect our democracy in this urgent moment and flip the House blue in November by supporting my re-election campaign today:

We are a country built on the rule of law, NOT a nation of kings or dictators. No one person is above the law — including the president.

After yesterday’s decision, I fear for the vitality and strength of our democracy. With this level of immunity, a future, anti-democratic president like Donald Trump could be empowered to inflict irreparable harm on our nation.

I refuse to even entertain the possibility of that happening. That’s why it’s so critical to support pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot right here in North Carolina. It’s key to ensuring we successfully defend the democracy that makes our country so strong.
