As the summer months progress, we ground ourselves in the hard work ahead, knowing the challenges we face are immense but not insurmountable. Ending homelessness is no easy task. It demands unwavering commitment, resilience, and a united effort from our community. This is a fight we won't shy away from, no matter how difficult the journey may be.
The U.S. Supreme Court decision on Grants Pass v. Johnson was profoundly disheartening, shaking the very foundations of our mission and leaving us grappling with the harsh realities of our legal system. In the days leading up to the final decision, our hearts brimmed with hope and anticipation for transformative change that could uplift and protect those without homes. We envisioned a future where everyone had access to safe and secure housing, free from the threat of criminalization.

The unfavorable decision impacts thousands of lives and criminalizes those without a safe place to call home. Where is the compassion? This setback has only reinforced the importance of our work, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive policy changes and community support to address the root causes of homelessness. We are more determined than ever to advocate for the rights and dignity of every individual affected by homelessness. As we navigate this new landscape, one thing is certain: we are stronger together, and we will not give up fighting for the human rights of our unhoused brothers and sisters. In this newsletter, we’ll explore the multifaceted efforts of this collective endeavor, our upcoming events, campaigns, and the work we’re doing. |
