Fellow Kansan,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! This week, I am back in the Big First meeting with Kansans during the district work period. I look forward to hearing directly from you and learning how I can serve you better in Congress.

I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Follow me on social media to see more of my work across the Big First this week.

Yours in service,

The Week Ahead

This week, I am hosting eleven town halls as part of my annual 60-county Mann Listening Tour. I am excited to meet with you, hear about the issues that are most important to you, and receive my marching orders for serving you in Congress.

Yesterday, I hosted town halls in Lincoln, Mitchell, Jewell, Smith, Phillips, and Norton counties. I heard your message loud and clear - Congress needs to reduce and reprioritize spending, secure our nation's borders, and end the weaponization of the federal government.

I am back on the road today in Rooks, Osborne, Russell, Ellis, and Rush counties. If you weren't able to make it to this week's town halls, be on the lookout for future dates when I will be in your community.

In the Office

Recognizing Tim Rogers - Salina Airport Authority

For nearly 40 years, Tim Rogers has served as the leader of the Salina Regional Airport. Last week, I had the privilege to honor my friend on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and thank him for his leadership and dedication to the Salina community. Without Tim, the Salina Airport would not be the thriving airport and airport industrial center that it is today. Thank you, Tim, for your outstanding service, and congratulations on your well-earned retirement.

Defending Kansans Against

Government Overreach

Yesterday, I sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regarding the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) Designation Process. Since DOE's announcement of potential NIETC areas, I have heard concerns from Kansans about the proposed project.

My letter urges DOE to:

  • Refrain from using eminent domain in its NIETC designation process
  • Publish clear geographical boundaries for the proposed NIETCs featuring only areas which are solely within DOE's control and not the control of private landowners
  • Extend the public comment period

I am vehemently opposed to any effort by the Federal government to seize private land. The Department of Energy’s May 8 announcement regarding phase 2 of the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor was grossly under publicized, overly vague, and left landowners with no clarity regarding whether their lands would be impacted. I will continue to urge DOE to address the concerns of the community before moving forward with this process.

Happy Independence Day!

248 years ago, our Founding Fathers declared independence based on the idea that all men are created equal. Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and remember our founding principles of freedom, prosperity, and the equality of all people. It’s these ideals that have made America the pilot light for freedom across the globe.

I will never give up on preserving our nation’s freedoms. God bless Kansas, and God bless America. Happy Independence Day!

Fighting for an Economy That's Strong

Washington's spending addiction continues to harm the American economy. Since President Biden took office, America's national debt has skyrocketed to $34 trillion, and hardworking Kansans are spending more than $1,000 more per month than they were three years ago.

President Biden’s economic policies are not sustainable.

House Republicans are fighting to reign in government spending, reprioritize how we spend our federal dollars, and return to regular order by passing twelve individual appropriation bills. I will continue to support legislation that is fiscally conservative and reduces unnecessary government bureaucracy that harms Americans. Our nation's economy needs less government, not more, to work for Kansans.

Family Research Council Award Ceremony

Last week, I was honored to receive the Family Research Council One Hundred Percent Award.

I am proud to fight for policies that promote strong families and protect the rights of every person to freely live their faith. I will never give up on defending the values that our nation was built on.

Meetings in the Office

Global Cold Chain Alliance and Lineage Logistics

I was thrilled to speak with the Global Cold Chain Alliance this week at their policy forum in Washington, D.C. At the forum, we celebrated the inclusion of the FRIDGE Act in the House Agriculture Committee’s Farm Bill. Investing in cold chain technology increases our cold storage and distribution capabilities while expanding and diversifying the markets that our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers have access to. Thank you for allowing me to speak at the forum and honoring me as Congressional Cold Chain Champion.

Clean Fuels Alliance of America

I enjoyed meeting with Clean Fuels Alliance of America, including farmers from the Kansas Soybean Association, during their visit to Washington, D.C. last week. The Clean Fuels Alliance of America promotes biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuels for producers, suppliers, and distributors across the United States. During our meeting, we discussed the need to pass a fiscally conservative Farm Bill that provides for producers. We also emphasized the need for year-round E15 and increasing the production, availability, and use of advanced biofuels as an "all of the above" energy approach. I appreciate the members taking the time to meet with me.

Associated Builders and Contractors

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) are strong advocates for America's construction industry. Last week I met with members from the Heart of America Chapter of ABC, which covers Kansas and Missouri and where several major employers in the Big First are member companies. I appreciated learning more about the impact that the Biden Administration’s burdensome regulations have had on their industry. With the ongoing labor shortages, high costs of materials, and a disrupted supply chain, the last thing that our contractors need is more overreaching red tape that stifles their ability to do their jobs. Thank you, ABC, for meeting with me during your visit and for your advocacy efforts in building America’s infrastructure.

American Nurses Association

I met with members of the Kansas State Nurses Association during the American Nurses Association’s Annual Conference. The Kansas State Nurses Association supports Kansas’ 90,000+ registered nurses by advocating for key nursing policies. Nurses play a critical role in our health care systems and keeping us healthy, and I am thankful for their dedication to serving others. Thank you, to all of our nurses, for the selfless work that you do.

Evangeline of Grainfield, KS

Last week, I hosted our 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner in Washington, D.C. During the visit, Evangeline and her mother, Nicole, saw Evangeline’s painting, ‘The Last Post,’ hanging in the United States Capitol. I appreciated learning more about the inspiration behind her artwork and the process in creating her piece. Thank you for participating in the Congressional Art Competition and for visiting our nation’s capital.
