Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you all have a fun 4th of July celebration with family and friends this week! Our district doesn’t have any parades this week, but there are plenty in our surrounding communities!

We are blessed to be Americans and this year we will celebrate 248 years of unprecedented liberty and opportunity.
Our republican form of government should not be taken for granted, however. It is up to us, the people of these 50 united states, to stay engaged and ensure our freedoms are preserved for future generations. One of my favorite quotes from President Ronald Reagan is:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
As we celebrate with cook-outs, parades and fireworks, let’s also do something tangible to strengthen our state and our nation.

Register to vote or remind friends and family to do so!
- Vote in the current Primary Election – early voting has already started! Find your polling place here.
- Volunteer for a candidate you support.
- Volunteer to serve on a local planning or park commission or local civic organization like the Lions or Rotary.

New Laws as of Yesterday
Yesterday on July 1, 2024, several new laws went into effect here in Minnesota. A full list of the new laws can be viewed here, but I want to take the time to highlight one very impactful provision - the new tax on deliveries!
Passed in 2023, the new delivery tax will apply to most orders over $100 including necessities like diapers, clothing, pet and office supplies, and other household essentials. The new tax is projected to raise $189 million in revenue and is just one of the many new or increased taxes & fees implemented this biennium while the majority spent the record-breaking surplus!
