Celebrating the founding of Stand With Parkland.

Dear friend,

Six years ago today, we formed Stand with Parkland - The National Association of Families for Safe Schools, to be a voice for America’s  families seeking positive change.

Our uniquely inclusive, non-partisan, and comprehensive approach to addressing school violence allows us to have productive conversations with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. By working together, we believe we can find solutions to keep all our nation’s students and teachers safe. If you support our mission, please help us celebrate the work we have done by donating today.

Over the past year, we have:

  • Continued supporting SchoolSafety.gov, providing schools and districts with guidance to create safe, supportive learning environments.
  • Successfully advocated for the Florida School Safety Act, signed by Governor DeSantis, which will be implemented this month.
  • Partnered with the Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center to enhance school safety through public education about behavioral threat assessments, supporting the bipartisan EAGLES Act.
  • Partnered with CERA to unveil a new app that enhances school safety by notifying multiple entities of potential emergencies.
  • Established the Stand With Parkland Grant Programs, working with CERA and SaferWatch to protect our schools from active and immediate threats.
  • Met with members of Congress from both sides of the aisle to encourage bipartisan efforts to improve the safety of American schools.
  • Invited U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, and many other school safety advocates to have a firsthand look at the failures that led to the events of six years ago.
  • Welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to announce new initiatives from the newly established Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
  • Submitted testimony to the House Subcommittee in Tallahassee to support this year's school safety bill and preserve the successful firearms law changes passed after the Parkland massacre.

Our mission is to continue to focus on our School Safety Triad: enhancing school safety, improving mental health screening and support programs, and encouraging responsible firearms ownership. We will always work in a pragmatic, bipartisan way, bringing people together for positive change.

To commemorate the six-year anniversary of Stand with Parkland, donate to support our work this year. Please help us put an end to this crisis that is scarring our nation.
