The conservative members of the United States Supreme Court – three of whom were nominated by former president Donald Trump – removed one of the last remaining checks as Trump pursues his path for dictatorship. This ruling is unprecedented and dangerous.

On January 6th, 2021, Trump attacked our nation’s founding values and attempted to undermine the peaceful transfer of power with false claims of election fraud. January 6th was a direct attack on our democracy and Trump must be held accountable.

In America, we all believe that no one is above the law. The American people deserve a president who fights for them, not a “king above the law.” However, the ultra-conservative Supreme Court justices proved that they are more loyal to MAGA extremism and shielding Trump from the consequences of his actions on January 6th than the rule of law or our Constitution.

It’s clear that the future of our democracy and the America we know today is on the line in November. We must come together and work to protect our nation and the values and principles we govern by.
