VOX: “Trump could have reopened enrollment for the Affordable Care Act for coronavirus. He chose not to.”

BREAKING: The administration WON’T reopen enrollment for the Affordable Care Act.

That leaves the almost 28 million uninsured people in our country with no way to obtain health coverage in the middle of a health crisis. Because they do not qualify for the special enrollment period, uninsured New Jerseyans are in a vulnerable position with little or no options if they get sick.

With more than 700,000 COVID-19 cases across the country and over 81,000 cases in New Jersey, Americans need access to health care now more than ever. Reopening the enrollment period would allow them to get it.

There are 38 states that don’t control their health care marketplaces -- including New Jersey. The administration has the power to reopen enrollment for those states.

Instead, the administration has refused to do the right thing. Uninsured Americans who get sick could either face crippling medical expenses or might not go to the doctor at all. No one should sacrifice their health because they're worried about affording their medical bills.

We need strong and urgent action from our leaders -- especially in the midst of a crisis.

Thank you and take care,
