Reopening our economy — and ensuring it stays open for the long run — will only be successful if we rely on science and safety, not politics. Our community needs to be healthy in order for any of this to work, which is why I'm pushing for more testing and adequate protective equipment.
This should not be a choice between public health and economic health. See information on the National Plan here.
During this time, our essential workers, including first responders, postal workers, healthcare workers, certain educators and many others, are putting their lives at risk. This is why we are leading the charge to get them hazard pay.
Without them, our country would stop functioning.
I'm fighting for the communities of color who are being disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and its impacts. We have helped ramp up testing, supplies and deploy new testing sites in Hispanic and African American communities in need.
I’m also working to help veterans, women and minority owned businesses as well as family farms left behind in the first round of Paycheck Protection Program funds. These businesses are a critical part of our Central Florida community and I will not allow them to be forgotten.

Although this crisis has changed a lot of things, I am confident that Central Florida's ability to persevere no matter the challenge will always stay the same.
