Dear comrade,
This is an important and timely message; please take the time to read and consider its different parts. Here is a quick map of what we discuss below.

Potential Campaign to Remove Biden as the Presumptive Democratic Party Nominee
Last week the world watched the first presidential debate between the two presumptive nominees of the major parties. In doing so, we participated in the spectacle of their sorry physical, cognitive, and political states. The day after, a number of organizations including DSA nationally called for President Biden to step aside in favor of another candidate. We recommend reading and considering its points.
In line with this call, the Memphis Midsouth Executive and Standing Committees are considering launching an emergency campaign to pressure the Democratic Party to nominate another candidate at the Democratic National Convention.
Conducting this campaign would involve a significant expenditure of our members' volunteer labor. And, it would have the greatest chance of success if there is support from our membership, from allies in other organizations, coordination from DSA nationally, and if we act quickly.
To get a sense of the preferences and the energy of our membership, please fill out this survey as soon as possible. It will close at 11:59pm on Friday, July 5th.
And, whether or not we take on this campaign as a chapter, please consider signing this petition calling on Biden to step aside.
BLUE OVAL GOOD NEIGHBORS CAMPAIGN
On Juneteenth a diverse contingent of our chapters' members numbering in the double digits drove to Mason, TN to support forming a legally binding Community Benefits Agreement with Ford about their
construction of an electric vehicle plant in Stanton, TN. We aimed to help make sure that people who live in the area are heard,
their needs met, and their environment unharmed.
Press conference in Mason, TN on Juneteenth with DSA members present.
Organizers and community members who support the Community Benefits Agreement were grateful for our attendance. Our members who attended were energized by the experience, and felt this was a model we can replicate to express solidarity and flex our organizational muscles.
The next action for the Community Benefits Agreement will be in Jackson, TN at 9:30am on July 17th. Please attend with us, and help our chapter support this important effort! To carpool with us, please fill out this RSVP form.
