This is not the email I wanted to send in the first week of July, but with news of this morning's Supreme Court ruling, I just had to reach out.
To say the stakes of this election have never been higher might sound cliché, but it couldn't be more accurate. The Supreme Court's recent decision, led by justices appointed by Donald Trump, granting him near total presidential immunity, sets a terrifying precedent.
As we prepare to celebrate our country's independence on July 4th, I'm reminded today that our democracy has never been more at risk.
The House of Representatives may be one of the last firewalls protecting our country against an extremist and tyrannical MAGA agenda. It is crucial for the future of our Republic that Democrats reclaim the majority this fall. Over the past two years, the Republican majority has repeatedly demonstrated they cannot be trusted to uphold the integrity of our institutions, and this recent ruling only heightens the danger. In short, we need to ensure we have checks and balances and the best way to do that is through a Democratic Majority.
