The Supreme Court just ruled to protect Donald Trump—declaring that he has presidential immunity from any prosecution for "official acts" while in office. But declined to rule on whether that includes his attempt to overturn the 2020 election—officially sending the case back to the lower court and further delaying the investigation into Trump's election interference scheme¹.

This is infuriating, we know.

It is no surprise that the right-wing-packed Supreme Court ruled to side with Trump—he nominated three of the MAGA justices himself. And Justices Thomas and Alito both have direct conflicts of interest in relation to this case, with Justice Thomas's wife, Ginni, playing a key role in the attempt to overturn the election, and Justice Alito waving insurrectionist-affiliated flags outside of his homes.

The corrupt MAGA court has failed us. So it's up to us to come together to defeat Trump in November.

We won't sit idly by while the Trump court derails our country decision after decision. MoveOn's election team is hosting an emergency phone bank to contact voters and talk with them about what's at stake in this election. We must urge voters who are thinking about sitting on the sidelines to turn out to vote in November.

Now that Trump knows that he can get away with almost any crime as president, his possible reelection is an even more dire threat to our democracy. He attempted to overthrow an election once, and now the Department of Justice investigation into his election interference case will likely be delayed until after the election. This is a disgrace to Americans who deserve to know the truth about what happened leading up to the January 6 insurrection.

This will be a virtual phone bank, meaning you can participate from your home or anywhere your computer and cellphone work. You'll be joining Zoom with fellow volunteers and MoveOn team members who can coach you through the call tool, give you tips for making effective calls, and share any talking points you might need. There will be a brief training at the top of the call, so even if you've never phone-banked before, you'll have everything you need.

MoveOn is specifically speaking to "surge voters"—folks who have voted before but may not vote regularly—as well as first-time voters. These voters will help defeat Trump if they turn out—but may need more encouragement to come to the polls. When folks learn what Trump has done—both his destructive policies as president and his criminal corruption—and what he plans to do if elected, he loses support. Which is why it's critical we use the effective method of one-to-one conversations to break through the media noise and Trump's blaring disinformation.

MoveOn members will be reaching out to voters on Tuesday—seizing this moment while Trump's convictions are in the news environment. We hope to see you there.
