John,

Today, the Supreme Court threatened the foundation of our democracy when they ruled that the President is immune from criminal prosecution for any "official actions". Not only does this violate the Constitution, overturn centuries of legal precedent, and tramples on the values this country was founded on, but it is also just plain wrong.

In her dissent, Justice Sotomayor said it best:

Growing up, we were all told that the rules apply to everyone — that the system only works if everyone is held to the same standard.

The court's conservative majority (all appointed by Republicans) has put party over country, endangering our democracy and damaging the very constitution they claim to uphold. In addition to their judicial malpractice, their wild partisanship will allow Trump to run out the clock on his criminal trials and deny voters the chance to make an informed decision in November.

This kind of behavior has become the cry of Republican politicians: law and order be damned.

Our country deserves better than judges and politicians who sell out our democracy to hold on to power. That's why the movement we're building is so important. We need to elect strong, pro-democracy leaders across the country. And that starts right here in Iowa. Will you join the fight to stand tall for our country today? [[link removed]]
