Friend,
Yesterday I sent you the below email with important news which you
may have missed it. It is a very critical update so I am sending it to
you again.
First, the great, amazing, awesome
news: Our long awaited matching funds have been
approved! In fact, the FEC wrote to request banking information to
start transferring the first payment. WooHOO!!
But here's the catch. Just after emailing that our
matching funds would soon be on the way, the FEC oddly sent a second
email claiming no payments could be made until August, after
the nominating conventions. (This is allegedly to allow the
FEC to determine whether candidates will apply for matching funds for
the general election.)
Our attorney is on the case. No mention was made of such a rule in
our two previous campaigns that qualified for primary matching funds.
So perhaps this is a bureaucratic error we can expeditiously
correct.
But in the meantime, this leaves us high and dry
for hundreds of thousands of dollars already owed for petition drives.
And, we must raise hundreds of thousands more in July to complete our
ballot drives.
In other words, we need your support now so we can continue the
ballot drives -- while we fight for the funds we've been
promised. Without an immediate major boost, we're at a standstill and
will miss many imminent petition deadlines.
We're on the ballot for a majority of voters. But to truly
challenge empire, we need an anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate
emergency choice on the ballot for nearly all voters. So, we
need an urgent cash infusion NOW!
