As we celebrate Independence Day this week, it’s hard to imagine that American Democracy, as we know it, may not survive to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 2026.
Project 2025 is a 900+ page plan written and produced by 54 MAGA PACs and organizations and orchestrated by Trump’s MAGA advisors. It is the blueprint for an autocratic governing scheme Trump will use if he wins in November.

Project 2025’s intent and purpose is to seize ultimate power and install an authoritarian leader in the Oval Office. It would dismantle the foundation of our democracy by obliterating the role of the Judiciary and Congress as separate and equal branches of American government.
Project 2025 is terrifying. Here’s just some of what’s being planned:
* Targeted Retribution: Eliminates legal protections for political adversaries and opens the door for Trump to investigate and penalize them without cause by using the full weight of the federal government (FBI, DOJ, IRS, Courts, and a MAGA Congress).
* Lethal Crackdowns: Empowers Trump to nationalize and deploy the National Guard (currently controlled by governors) and state and local law enforcement as well as active duty military personnel to arrest persons lawfully protesting in ”blue” cities.
* Unchecked Executive Power: More than 100 independent federal agencies (i.e. FDA, FAA, SEC, Fed) will report directly to Trump. Funds authorized by Congress will be directed at Trump’s whim, contrary to Article 1 of the Constitution, and used for his priorities, ignoring previously enacted legislation.
* Gutted Public Services: Restricts access to essential healthcare services, targeting women’s healthcare, including abortion and reproductive health. Cuts to social safety net programs, education, and environmental protection will threaten the lives of millions of citizens. He would jail millions of immigrants in detention camps while they wait for asylum hearings.
* Jeopardized National Security: Trump would undercut or withdraw from NATO, the primary alliance among western democracies. The plan also suggests invading Mexico to go after drug cartels, jeopardizing our relationship with our southern neighbor
* Economic Chaos: Trump plans massive tariffs on nearly all imports. It would drive up prices for nearly everything we buy, including many essential products. It would also harm the ability of American businesses to access international markets with goods and services, harming economic growth and costing jobs here at home.
There is no time to waste: Trump and his deputies are already interviewing potential staff to replace tens of thousands of career government employees. He’ll ignore civil service laws so details of Project 2025 can be implemented beginning on Day One of his return to the White House.
Democracy must prevail. We must stop Trump and this autocratic scheme.
