Hey there, it's Marcus Flowers.
Every day we are presented with another example of what’s at stake
in our democracy.
Today the Supreme Court ruled that Trump is entitled to claim
immunity from criminal prosecution for some of the actions he took as
president – this includes his encouragement of the January
6 insurrection following his electoral loss.
This sets a
dangerous precedent for our nation.
Before this ruling, no president has ever been protected from
criminal prosecution while violating the law in office. In fact, no
president has ever believed they were above the law, period.
Now, all former presidents are cloaked in this immunity. If the
president misuses their official power for personal gain, they will
not face the same prosecution as the rest of us.
What does it mean for a nation when its leader is above the law?
When the president of a country can commit crimes and escape any
penalties? It means democracy is in danger.
If
we fail to elect champions of the people, democracy as we know it will
cease to exist. Please join me in defending our democracy by chipping
in anything you can today – this is urgent:

When a president believes he is above the law, the integrity of our
democracy is compromised. The corruption trickles down, and the
stability of our nation will crumble.
But we the people still hold the power to protect the democracy
we’ve built. Our greatest strength is our ability to elect leaders
that align with our morals and fight for every American.
We
have entered dangerous, uncharted territory with today’s SCOTUS
ruling. This is just a glimpse of what’s at risk if we fail to Hold
The Line and keep democratic ideas at the helm. Please join me in
standing up for the future of our democracy by donating $10 or what
you can today.
