Representative Adriano Espaillat Statement on the Supreme Court’s Decision on Presidential Immunity for Donald Trump

Espaillat Calls SCOTUS Ruling Unprecedented and Dangerous

NEW YORK, NY -- Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement regarding today's Supreme Court ruling granting immunity to former President Donald Trump:

“Today's ruling is dangerous and unprecedented. The Supreme Court’s partisan decision to grant Donald Trump any form of immunity threatens the rule of law in our country. However, it does not change the facts: Donald Trump tried to overthrow the government, denied the results of a free and fair election, and he must be held accountable for his actions.

"No one is above the law."

Representative Espaillat is the first Dominican American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and his congressional district includes Harlem, East Harlem, West Harlem, Hamilton Heights, Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill and the north-west Bronx. “El fallo de hoy es peligroso y sin precedentes. La decisión partidista de la Corte Suprema de otorgar a Donald Trump cualquier forma de inmunidad amenaza el Estado de derecho en nuestro país. Sin embargo, esto no cambia los hechos: Donald Trump intentó derrocar al Gobierno, negó los resultados de unas elecciones libres y justas y debe rendir cuentas por sus acciones.
