Dear John,
In this week’s newsletter: Meeting with the Illinois FFA, pushing back on CCP plans to dominate key tech industries, and supporting the next generation. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of the newsletter.
FFA in DC
I enjoyed visiting with the Illinois FFA during their trip to DC last week!
It was great to spend some time speaking with them about my work to support agriculture in Illinois and field some ideas on ways we can improve current policies.
Illinois FFA leads the way preparing the next generation of agriculture leaders in our state, and I am grateful for their work.
The future of Illinois agriculture is in good hands!
Addressing the Rise of Antisemitism
The rise of antisemitism on college campuses across the nation is both disturbing and unacceptable.
At our Ways and Means hearing, I highlighted the need to bolster enforcement measures to hold universities accountable if they fail to protect students. The Biden Administration must step up and ensure the safety of Jewish students and faculty on college campuses.

Simplifying the Tax Code for Illinois Families
Illinois families and small businesses face too many burdensome challenges when dealing with the IRS. From uneven processing timelines to irregular payment schedules, it's important that we streamline the process for taxpayers and small businesses.
I was proud to introduce the bipartisan Tax Administration Simplification Act this week to tackle these concerns and provide real relief for Illinoisans.

Discussing China and Trade at the Business Roundtable
It was great to join the Business Roundtable and my colleague Representative Jake Auchincloss for an important discussion on Advancing Trade and National Security.
Working with our allies, especially in the Indo-Pacific, and implementing a robust and proactive trade agenda are crucial to America's economic success and national security.
Supporting the Next Generation
At our Ways and Means Committee hearing on child welfare, I emphasized the value of work and the importance of strengthening the Title IV-B program to bolster foster care in the United States.
Reforms to the Title IV-B program would improve outcomes for the 19,000 youth aging out of foster care each year and support family members caring for children who might otherwise enter foster care.
As Work and Welfare Subcommittee Chair, we will continue in our efforts to support and safeguard the well-being of children.

Fighting to End Alzheimer's
Alzheimer’s affects millions of Americans each day, and the search for a cure must be relentless.
I was proud that the Way sand Means Committee advanced my bipartisan CHANGE Act to help patients and clinicians through expanded early detection support and improved data collection.

Combatting the CCP's Plan to Dominate Critical Industries
Whether it be through state-controlled enterprises that play by a different set of rules, the use of coercive tactics, or stealing intellectual property, the CCP is doing whatever it takes to achieve their vision of dominating key technological industries.
We must work with our allies and trading partners to prevent the overreliance on Chinese manufactured semiconductors and address these rising challenges.
