This morning in Georgia, a harmful bill called SB 189 went into effect.
It will have the effect of disenfranchising thousands of voters during a critical election year, and Governor Brian Kemp did nothing to stop it. In fact, he made sure to sign it into law, knowing that it would encourage voter suppression, limiting access to the ballot.
This is what we expect to see in the next few months leading up to the November election:
❗ Right-wing activists emboldened to try and kick Black & brown voters off the rolls
❗ Election intimidation designed to dissuade thousands from voting
❗ An overburden on elections staff and potential harassment
❗ Impractical voting regulations for unhoused voters
This is the latest attempt from right-wing legislators to disenfranchise Georgians — and it won’t be their last.
Voter suppression bills are a threat to our voting rights — but that’s why Fair Fight Action exists. Your gift of $25 can help us in the fights to come.
Fair Fight Action won’t sit by and let anti-democracy politicians attack Georgians’ freedom to vote, now or ever. We have strength in numbers, and together, we can keep pushing back to protect equal access to the ballot box.
Thank you for protecting the right to vote.
