The impact of the coronavirus has affected food security for low-income families, especially older adults and children. As more stay-at-home orders have been instituted, schools, child care centers, and older adult meal sites have closed, which has resulted in many low-income families losing access to the consistent and healthy meals they rely on.

The CARES Act authorized more than $2 trillion in federal funds to combat the COVID-19 crisis, including $150 billion for a new Coronavirus Relief Fund to states and local governments and $330 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations.
