Our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is hours away — can we count on you to show your support for Ayanna and the principles that we’re fighting for? |
My favorite type of movie is a good sports documentary. I live for the rush, the real-life drama, the all-or-nothing stakes of the game.
We get to see an intimate side of our favorite players, see them overcome injuries, stare down their haters and opponents, and leave it all on the floor. That passion, that dedication and drive is what keeps us coming back for more, and it demonstrates that it’s more than just a game.
So when the Celtics — my favorite basketball team — won the NBA championship this month (#Banner18!), I was fired up for my team and my city. I even won a friendly wager with my sister in service Jasmine Crockett in Texas: Dallas BBQ for me if the Celtics won, lobster rolls for her if the Mavs won.
Let me just say, that Dallas BBQ will be sweet — but victory is even sweeter.
I’m lucky to have multiple winning teams in my orbit, the Celtics and our A-Team right here. And in critical moments like these – our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline tonight, which is sort of like going into a Game 7 – I know I can rely on the A-Team to come together and fight for our goals. Goals like affordable housing, student debt cancellation, and closing the racial wealth gap. We can find moments of joy as we continue to do the work that moves us forward.

This is our chance to leave it all on the floor as we fight for people-focused, progressive issues. As we work to keep the people closest to the pain closest to the power. As we face down our opponents and remind them that we’re stronger together.
Lucky to be in this fight with you,
Ayanna
