I’m sure you get a lot of fundraising emails, but I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain to you why this race is so important – and why we need your support. The process is pretty simple. We raise money so that we can communicate with people. And we communicate with people so we can convince them to vote. We want them to vote so that we can try and take back control of the House. And we want to take back control of the House so that we’re able to pass laws that make all of our lives better. Laws that protect members of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination at schools and at work. Laws that ensure women have access to reproductive healthcare. Laws that make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Laws that strengthen our democracy. I might be a bit biased in saying this, but Will’s commitment to serving our community goes beyond rhetoric; the person you see on the campaign trail is the person he’s always been and will be. I’ve watched Will’s career in public service, from protecting the public from cartels, white-collar criminals, and fraudsters to helping prosecute insurrectionists who attacked the US Capitol on January 6. I’ll be honest: when Will told me he was going to run for Congress again, I wasn’t sure what to think. If your partner came home and said they wanted to run for office, I’m sure you might feel the same way. 🙂 But I knew Will couldn’t sit this out. Not with Ken Calvert repeatedly attacking the LGBTQ+ community, and certainly not with the MAGA chaos we’re seeing come out of the House. The way I see it, he has a duty to win this seat, and I couldn't be prouder of how he’s responded. Fundraising is my least favorite thing about Will’s campaign, but in a race as expensive as this one, every donation will make a difference – which is why I have to ask: If you can, please chip in $3 or more to help us meet our end-of-quarter fundraising goal.
