Friday's Supreme Court decisions have made it more apparent than ever that we need leaders who come from a place of community service and are committed to fighting for our rights.

The Court’s recent rulings have dealt severe blows to both essential regulatory functions of our federal government and protections for the most vulnerable among us.

The conservative justices overturned a 40-year-old decision that allowed federal agencies to regulate the environment, public health, workplace safety, and consumer protections.

This decision is a massive victory for corporations and for special interest groups who try to buy our elections.

The Court also upheld an Oregon city’s ban on homeless residents sleeping outdoors. This decision criminalizes homelessness, penalizing people for the mere act of seeking shelter in public spaces, even when no shelter space exists for them.

This ruling is unconscionable, and further marginalizes those who are already struggling.

Now, more than ever, we need progressive, unbought Democrats in Congress who will stand up against these attacks on our liberties and work to shape a more just future.
