Friend,

I'm writing to tell you how the NDRC is building on our scope of work to protect voting rights during the public health emergency. At the end of this email I'm going to ask you to pitch in if you're able -- but if you'd rather do that now, here's a link to donate immediately.

COVID-19 has created a great deal of uncertainty around our elections -- and Republicans have been exacerbating that uncertainty by refusing to support policies that will ensure people can cast their ballots safely. Republican legislators have elevated political interests above the safety of their constituents in states like Wisconsin, and it has underscored the need for us to respond.

The bottom line is that we won't get a fair redistricting in 2021 if we don't have fair elections in 2020. But beyond that, fighting to protect our elections is simply the right thing to do. Will you help us secure safe elections in 2020 by contributing to our Democracy Protection Fund?

Here is what we'll be calling on states to do:

Expand no-excuse absentee voting and vote at home measures
Ensure requests for ballots are honored and all legally-cast ballots count
Expand voter registration to include online options and same-day voter registration
Provide safe and healthy polling places and expand early voting so that poll workers and those who want to cast a ballot in person can protect themselves
Increase voter education so that people know about all of the new options available to them

This will be a challenge, friend. We already had our hands full dealing with and defeating map manipulators ahead of 2021, and now we have to fight for a fair 2020 election as well. It's going to take even more hard work, more agility, and yes, more resources than before. So I hope we can count on you.

We've reached the end of the email, so it's time to ask: If you're able, will you make a donation to help the NDRC expand our work to take on voter suppression?
