John,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
The eyes of America were watching
Thursday night's presidential debate between President Donald J. Trump
and Joe Biden. The debate clearly shows strength in leadership versus
weakness in a failed leader. President Trump demonstrated in front of
tens of millions of Americans across this great nation why he should
and will be the 47th President of the United States.
President Trump outlined a message of strength for America, an America
First message, with a strategic vision for our country for the next
four years. He made it clear that he will bring strength back to our
national security, re-establish energy dominance, and re-implement
border security. His plan is about pro-growth initiatives for our
economy, and he embodies the leadership qualities to bring peace and
stability to the world.
On the other hand, President Biden could
not defend his failed record. His failures on national security, the
economy, and on the world stage have weakened us and were on full
display. The big takeaway was the obvious weakness in Biden’s
faculties and cognitive abilities. This situation is much more serious
than a debate. Our nation's prosperity and peace around the world is
at stake. It’s concerning that Biden is acting as our president now,
and for the next six and a half months. Biden cannot be re-elected for
another term because of his personal decline and our nation's
decline.

On Friday, I joined NewsNation to discuss the
presidential debate and its impact on the critical battle over

Joe Biden lied repeatedly during this week’s debate. He touted
policy victories that never happened, exaggerated data, and
intentionally attempted to mislead the American people because his
record has been one of failure. Below are just a few of the egregious
lies told by Biden on Thursday night:
CLAIM: Most egregious — there were no American
military combat deaths during his presidency.
REALITY: 13 brave American soldiers were killed in
Afghanistan during Biden’s disastrous
withdrawal.
CLAIM: His administration capped the cost of insulin
at $15 per shot.
REALITY: The actual cap on insulin is $35 a shot,
more than double Biden’s claim.
CLAIM: His Administration implemented a $200
out-of-pocket spending cap on drug costs in Medicare Part D.
REALITY: The cap is $2,000, ten times higher than
President Biden claimed.
CLAIM: Illegal border crossings are down 40% compared
to Trump.
REALITY: Illegal border crossings have not just been
higher, but much, much higher, under President Biden for 39 straight
months than at any time under Trump.
CLAIM: Unemployment was at 15% when Biden took
office.
REALITY: Unemployment was 6.3% when Biden took
office.
CLAIM: President Trump wants to get rid of Social
Security.
REALITY: Trump has said that he would not “under any
circumstance” allow Social Security to “be even touched.”
Before the debate, I spoke about Biden’s
desire to focus on frivolous issues like President Trump's politically
motivated trial because he can’t defend his record of failure. While
President Trump is out on the campaign trail discussing the issues
that matter most to the American people, like inflation, immigration,
and crime, Biden is hunkered down at Camp David, cramming for a
90-minute test. President Trump will be tough and make a strong case
for how his agenda will Make America Great Again. Click

I joined “The Big Money Show” on Fox
Business to discuss the debate, Biden's countless failures at the
expense of the American people, and, most importantly, President
Trump's proven record during his first term in office. President Trump
has a winning plan for America. He brings strength in every category,
from border security to energy independence to economic prosperity
without inflation. Biden's plan moving forward is just more of the
same. Click

presidential debate. Click

We have a very clear choice in this
election: Do we want a strong America with strong leadership or a
declining America with weak, incoherent leadership? To be a strong
nation, we must have a strong president with policies that make sense
and are in the best interest of ALL American citizens. We do not need
a divider-in-chief; we need a Commander in Chief, which is what
President Donald J. Trump will be.
Our border must be secured. Nevertheless,
those Democrat members of the House and White House who disagree need
to at least acknowledge the very tragic repercussions, such as the
horrible murder of Jocelyn Nungaray and others at the hands of those
illegally in our country, in fact, permitted, aided and abetted, to be
here illegally. Leadership in elected office does require upholding
decency and the law over party political posturing. It’s never too
late to do or say the right thing.
The First Amendment makes clear that all
Americans have the inherent right to determine what information they
share and endorse. The idea that the U.S. government can censor
information it disagrees with is fundamentally flawed and goes against
our Constitution and values.
During a recent House Committee on Small
Business hearing, it was made clear that small businesses are being
harmed by government-endorsed and funded censorship. I found it
appalling that some believe the government has the authority to use
taxpayer dollars to restrict information it does not agree with. I
will continue to work with my colleagues to expose and stop these
unlawful actions. Click

The Biden Administration's censorship of
conservatives on social media is undeniable and un-American. A recent
Small Business Committee hearing exposed their selective
categorization of information and misinformation, almost always
targeting conservative groups. On Thursday, the Supreme Court had the
opportunity to call this what it is, a violation of the First
Amendment, and I was disappointed they failed to do so. Such
governmental control over social media content directly infringes upon
First Amendment rights and is dangerous to the American people. I
joined “American Agenda” on Newsmax to discuss. Click

Earlier this week, I heard firsthand from
market participants how the SEC's equity market structure rules will
disrupt our capital markets, likely at the expense of everyday
investors. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission needs modern
market data before acting, and I heard that loud and clear. Click

I questioned the Export-Import Bank on
its perceived bias against certain energy projects and the importance
of upholding fiscal prudence and strong guardrails. Export-Import Bank
of the United States is critical for countering malign international
investments by Russia and China, but it must prioritize America's
economic needs over Biden's political agenda. Click

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: At Thursday night’s CNN debate, the
American people witnessed a split screen for the ages — a strong,
focused, and powerful performance from President Trump and an
incoherent, humiliating, and embarrassing display of Biden's weakness
and decline.
Here are some of the
must-watch moments:
- Biden took zero
responsibility for the millions of illegal aliens he has
ferried into the country — and even credited them
as "the reason why we have the most successful economy in the
world."
- Biden blamed President
Trump for his own historic inflation crisis.
- Biden admitted he
has NO PLAN for Social Security.
- Biden lied about
raising taxes on middle-class Americans.
- Biden was unable to
name a single limit he'd support on taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand
until birth.
- Biden malfunctioned in
real-time (again, and
again, and
again, and
again).
Meanwhile, President Trump took Biden to
task over Biden's border
invasion, his disastrous foreign
policy, his plan
to raise taxes on 91% of American families, and his lifetime
of chronic lying.
There's a reason two-thirds
of Americans say President Trump was the clear winner of
the debate — because he was.
I was happy to meet with the Keystone and
Eastern Chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
National, representing more than 23,000 members in Pennsylvania. We
discussed the Biden Administration’s excessive regulatory overreach,
which is negatively impacting their small business members through new
rules and regulations. I will continue to fight against burdensome
regulations that hinder the success of America’s small businesses.
I had the pleasure of welcoming Kaylee
Meeker, the 9th District 2024 Congressional Art Competition
winner, to D.C. to celebrate her remarkable achievement. Her artwork,
“Operation Desert Shield,” will be displayed in the Capitol for the
following year. I sincerely thank her and all participants for their
hard work and incredible talents. Congratulations, Kaylee!
I was honored to recognize a pillar
of our community and my friend, John L. Augustine, the recipient of
Leadership
Northeast's Distinguished Leadership Alumni
Award. Now serving as President and CEO of Penn's Northeast, John’s service
to Northeastern Pennsylvania has extended over the past 25 years. His
commitment to economic development in our region has benefited our
communities and improved the quality of life for area residents. John
Augustine proves that you don't need
to hold elected office to make communities better. Click
