We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important

It’s the last day of Gun Violence Prevention Month, and also the final day before our Q2 fundraising deadline. Can you help us hit our fundraising goal before midnight tonight so we can re-elect the leader of the gun safety movement to Congress for her fourth term?

John, today we’re wrapping up Gun Violence Prevention Month. Here’s a snapshot of what’s transpired – good and bad – over the past 30 days.

  • Lucy introduced the GOSAFE Act, a life-saving piece of legislation that would regulate assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
  • We mourned the anniversary of the 2015 Charleston mass shooting that claimed nine innocent lives.
  • Senate Republicans blocked bipartisan legislation that would have outlawed bump stocks just a few days after the SCOTUS struck down a ban on the deadly accessories.
  • The Supreme Court ruled to uphold the law preventing those with domestic violence restraining orders from possessing guns in United States v. Rahimi.
  • The Surgeon General declared gun violence to be a public-health crisis, and proposed we treat it as such.

While we’ve taken some positive steps forward, the events this past month show just how much more work we have in front of us. It’s never been more important to elect leaders like Lucy McBath who prioritize ending gun violence in a critical election year. Can you chip in by midnight tonight before her end-of-quarter fundraising deadline?
CHIP INThanks,

Team Lucy
