Hi John, it’s Kali Jennings, senior creative manager and co-chair of the LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group (Slay for Something 🌈 ) at Run for Something.
This Pride Month, we are amplifying LGBTQIA+ folks and highlighting their stories because we know that representation in positions of leadership is critical to creating impactful and inclusive policies.
Supporting more progressive queer candidates up and down the ballot will help us build the leadership we need to get our community the rights they deserve in every single state. And we know that representation has immense real-world impact.
Just look at Zooey Zephyr, Montana’s first ever openly transgender legislator and one of the many Run for Something alumni making a difference for the LGBTQIA+ community. As a leader in her community, she advocates against anti-transgender laws and other efforts to censure, attack and discriminate against members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
More candidates like Zooey are exactly what our community needs to make sure we have a seat at the table and fight against “Don’t Say Gay” MAGA extremists. Fortunately, Run for Something is working hard to recruit and elect more progressives who can champion the policies we deserve.
But we can’t do it without your help: In celebration of Pride Month, will you please rush a donation toward our $25,000 goal before midnight tonight to help elect more LGBTQIA+ candidates to public office?
