A PERSONAL NOTE

Good morning, friends! I hope this Sunday finds you well. It's difficult to believe it's nearly July already!

I'm writing this from bed.

Again.

I have had a major setback and am awaiting word from my surgeon about how we will proceed. I've had two MRIs and multiple X-rays, and long story short, I'm no longer weight-bearing. It looks like one or more tendons ruptured, but I'm currently in limbo. This is all I know right now, but when I learn more, I'll share it with you.

Of course, it's a pretty devastating blow. Physical therapy was going so well and I was beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel after a very long year and a half of trying to get this ankle repaired.

But here's the thing: you can either be sad and give up, or you can be grateful and keep going. After a couple of days of complete wallowing, I've chosen the second. I have a surgeon I trust, I already know how to get around without walking, and I've got all the things here that I need to help make my life easier and more independent.

I don't know yet whether this is a long-term setback or not, but sometimes you just have to take life as it's handed to you. Then, it's up to you what you make of it.

I know today's note is brief. I'm still trying to get my mindset in a positive place to face the next challenge. I have faith that things will work out exactly as they should.
