Samples From the Moon's Far Side Have Just Arrived to Earth

In a push to ascertain the moons uncharted secrets, progress on
exploring the far side has accelerated in recent years. In early June
2024, China made the news as its newest space probe, Change 6, landed
on the moons far side, marking a bold direction for future lunar
exploration.China launched the Change 6 probe on May 3, 2024 with the
intent of collecting samples of lunar regolith (a surface layer of
dust, sand, and rock fragments) on the moon's far side. A similar
mission occurred in 2020, when China's Change 5 probe retrieved
samples from Oceanus Procellarum the largest of the lunar maria, which
are basaltic plains mostly on the moons near side that were formed by

Cleaning Up Cow Burps To Combat Global Warming
[[link removed]}&lead=419599&emailid=27312&nl=daily]

In the urgent quest for a more sustainable global food system,
livestock are a mixed blessing. On the one hand, by converting fibrous
plants that people cant eat into protein-rich meat and milk, grazing
animals like cows and sheep are an important source of human food. And
for many of the worlds poorest, raising a cow or two or a few sheep or
goats can be a key source of wealth. But those benefits come with an
immense environmental cost. A study in 2013 showed that globally,
livestock account for about 14.5 percent of greenhouse gas emissions,
more than all the worlds cars and trucks combined. And about 40
percent of livestocks global warming potential comes in the form of
methane, a potent greenhouse gas formed as they digest their fibrous
diet.

How 'Reservation Dogs' sparked a Native filmmaking boom in Tulsa

Tims Midtown Diner in Tulsa, Oklahoma, used to be just the local
greasy spoon where I could get a big waffle and a hot coffee any day
of the week. But since appearing on FXs Peabody Awardwinning series
Reservation Dogs, its become a bit of a pilgrimage spot. (FX and
National Geographic Partners are part of The Walt Disney Company.) In
one memorable scene, actors Ethan Hawke and Kawennhere Devery Jacobs
(Mohawk) sit across from each other at a table a few feet from where I
was dining. It brings a lot of people in, my server said of the
show.Co-created by the Tulsa-based showrunner Sterlin Harjo (Muscogee,
Seminole) and Oscar-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi (Mori), Rez Dogs
tells the story of four Indigenous teenagers coming of age on a
reservation in northeast Oklahoma. After a local red-carpet premiere,
the series debuted in August 2021, and then suddenly on my TV screen
there were Native kids I could have hung out with in high school, in a
neighborhood that could be the one outside my window. It was authentic
and heartfelt and a world away from the stereotypical depiction of
Natives living in tipis and riding horseback. Rez Dogs proved that
Native stories told by Native storytellers could succeed on a
pop-culture scale: Two months later my social feeds were filled with
images of kids and teenagers dressed up as the shows characters for
Halloween.

Pooping on the Moon Is a Messy Business
[[link removed]}&lead=419599&emailid=27312&nl=daily]

Everybody poops, including astronauts. In fact, the first picture Neil
Armstrong ever snapped from the surface of the moon shows a jettisoned
waste bag that may well contain poop. The Apollo crews left a total of
96 bags of waste, including urine and feces, across their six landing
sites, which are still sitting there to this day: a celestial reminder
that wherever humans go, we bring our shit with us.These Apollo
jettison bags, sometimes shorthanded as the poo bags, have been the
subject of much interest and speculation since they were deposited on
the moon more than 50 years ago. Human feces is packed with microbial
life, which means that the moon hosted life on its surface for an
unknown period of time after each Apollo landing. Learning how long
those microbes survived in the extraterrestrial excrement would reveal
tantalizing insights into the mystery of lifes origins on Earth and
its potential existence elsewhere. The bags also raise questions about
our cultural heritage and environmental impact on the lunar
environment, while underscoring the intractable problem of managing
and disposing of off-Earth biological waste.

states. For example, Florida has restricted abortion after 6 weeks,
except in cases where the womans life is at risk, whereas Arizona has
restricted abortion after 15 weeks.Conversely, 11 statespredominantly

states in the expanded access category tend to have a higher

Is Your Company Inclusive of Neurodivergent Employees?

ethnic, and geographic lines. Currently, the unemployment rate among
people with autism remains high, with some estimates coming in at over
80%. The heightened profile of disability, equity, and inclusion
functions in major employers is already leading companies to think
about forms of diversity beyond race and gender. Since the early
2010s, a network of major employers has developed targeted employment
initiatives and protocols to better integrate this workforce into
their companies. But the number of companies involved in
neurodiversity hiring initiatives is modest today, as is the number of

reveals that the drop-off of women is primarily driven by gender
disparities in promotion rates, not gender differences in hiring or

simple and straightforward concept: the gender proportionality
principle (GPP), which stipulates that a given level in an
organization should aim to reflect the gender composition of the level
immediately below it. They have worked with several organizations that
report that the GPP has helped achieve sustainable and predictable
improvement in gender equity across ranks.
