Friend --

The world’s focus right now is on COVID-19, and it’s exposing the many flaws in our health-care system that Black women have known for too long: Our health-care system and health-care reform efforts have always carelessly or purposefully excluded us.

Despite this exclusion, Black women are leading the frontlines of this fight from the bedsides of millions of Americans as nurses, home health aides, doctors, etc. to filling the seats of Congress, statewide offices, and councils all across the country fighting to protect and save our families.

This Sunday Brunch, mark your calendars for our week long programming, ‘The Sip’, gathering Black women online across the country to be informed, engaged, to take action and practice self care and joy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together with the Advancement Project National Office, BlackPAC, National Women’s Law Center and The League, we launched a Facebook Live Series called the ‘The Sip’.

The Sip each week will gather for a Power Lunch on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. ET, and a Happy Hour on Friday's at 5:00 p.m. ET and Sunday Brunch with Higher Heights every Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, connecting Black women to thought-leaders and innovators across sectors from government, non-profit  and corporate to entertainment, culture and lifestyle.

Join Sunday Brunch TODAY at 2:00 pm ET with special guests:

  • Representative Jahana Hayes (CT-05)
  • Dr. Rosyln Clark Artis, President, Benedict College
  • Dr. Cynthia Warrick, President, Stillman College
  • Becky Pringle, Vice President, National Education Association
  • Dani McClain, Author and Fellow, Type Media Center
  • Danielle Atkinson, Founder & Executive Director, Mothering Justice
  • Debra Watkins, Founder Emerita & Director of Strategic Partnerships, A Black Education Network (formerly the California Alliance of African American Educators)

In these new virtual times, The Sip will be on-hand for your weekly programming to stay in-the-know on all things affecting Black women and our communities.  We’ll see you today for Sunday Brunch and keep an eye on your inbox for more invites to come.

Onward,

Glynda
