With the crucial end-of-quarter fundraising deadline approaching, I want to remind you of how much your financial support enables me to fight for our shared values and interests in Washington, D.C. This is particularly true with the chaotic extremist republican majority that recklessly wastes time with a culture war agenda that is out of touch with the needs of our nation.
Over and over again, GOP Speakers Kevin McCarthy and Mike Johnson have pandered to the most far right faction of their majority and mangled “must do” legislation, such as the Farm Bill, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and immigration reform that actually can pass with healthy majorities.
Just recently, Johnson took the bipartisan NDAA, which passed out of committee 57-1 and stuffed it with amendments that limit access to reproductive care for 400,000 female service members, and strike diversity and inclusion efforts that will strengthen recruitment from underrepresented minorities. These measures, to name a few, do not “support the troops”, and turned a strong bipartisan measure into a hyper-partisan, scorched earth bill that will never become law.
Your support will help stop the embarrassing fiasco that republican control of the US House has brought us over the last two years. The more resources I have, the stronger voice I can be. Not just for our military members and their families who are the targets of those playing cynical political games, but all Americans who are tired of all their antics.
