Hi John,

I had the honor of serving as your Attorney General before becoming Governor.

I know the job, I know the stakes, and I know the two candidates we have running for office this November.

For me, it isn’t a close call: I’m supporting Jeff Jackson - and I’m asking you to support him before his deadline tomorrow.

The Office of the Attorney General can do so much good for the state by helping to keep families safe, defending clean air and water and protecting reproductive freedom.

But, if occupied by the wrong person, it could also be used to do harm. It can push an extreme partisan agenda that focuses on taking away your rights and provoking outrage and division across the state.

Jeff is running for the right reasons. He’s been a solid, thoughtful Congressman and State Senator. He enlisted in the military after the attacks of September 11th, served in Afghanistan, and then became a prosecutor in Gaston County. He’s a person of service and substance, and he’s shown the kind of leadership our state expects from an Attorney General.

Dan Bishop, on the other hand, is as extreme as they come. He wrote the disastrous bathroom bill, HB2 - and that was just the beginning. In Congress, Bishop opposed the PACT Act, which expanded health care for veterans who were exposed to burn pits. He fought against certifying the last election and supports national abortion bans.

He’s an extremist, far-right candidate that will turn the office into something we’ve never seen before: a partisan weapon.
