Hey John – Once again I’m under attack from Republicans. Earlier this week, I led the effort in Congress to force a vote on a bill to make “red-flag” laws available nationwide. This legislation would stop individuals in crisis from having access to a firearm before it’s too late.
However, the far-right Heritage Foundation wasted no time in attacking my motives by calling this “more of a PR stunt than it is any serious attempt at public policy.”
This is flat-out insulting, John. I’m working as hard as I can to pass laws that protect my community from the carnage of gun violence. That’s not a PR stunt – that’s doing my job. Can you help me push back against these attacks by donating to my campaign before Sunday night’s end-of-quarter deadline?

It really shouldn’t be controversial to empower loved ones and law enforcement to follow due process under the law and keep guns out of the hands of those who may be a danger to themselves or others. But when you’re deep in the pocket of the NRA, common-sense doesn’t apply.
I’m always amazed at the lengths Republicans will go to in blocking even the most basic legislation to curb our epidemic of gun violence. It’s the worst example of putting politics over people.
And lastly, it takes a lot of nerve to come after me for pushing a “PR stunt” when I’ve proudly made this my mission since first being elected. I feel the pain of losing my son to gun violence every single day, John. This is deeply personal.
My end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is tomorrow night at midnight. With a critical reelection campaign just a few months away, now is when I need to show my opponents that my grassroots movement is standing behind me. Can you chip in today to show you have my back?
