This
week a United Nations-backed food security report showed that 96 percent
of Gaza’s population — 2.15 million people — now face crisis levels of
hunger, with nearly 500,000 people starving.

People are resorting to desperate measures like boiling weeds, eating
animal feed, and exchanging clothes for money to stave off hunger and keep
their children alive.

Just days after the IPC issued the Gaza report, they released another
report showing a staggering 25 million people in Sudan now face starvation
after 14 months of relentless conflict.

For months now, parts of Sudan, notably greater Darfur, have been cut off
from aid and deprived of food, clean water, and healthcare. The conflict
has devastated food production, causing severe malnutrition among
children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, the chronically ill,
and the elderly.
