Dear Neighbor,

I hope you had a chance to tune in to our CA42 Virtual Town Hall on Education Under Quarantine earlier today. You can now watch the video here.

We heard from Nancy Young, a French teacher in the Temecula Valley Unified School District, and Vanessa Castro Scott, a Reading Intervention Specialist in the Hemet Unified School District, who talked about the challenges of teaching online.

Vanessa is also a local leader of the California Teachers Association (CTA), and I am honored that our campaign for Congress has been endorsed by the 310,000 members of CTA. I talked about my experiences switching the college courses I teach to online, and helping my students succeed despite the pandemic.

We were also joined by Kate Schwartz, a behavioral healthcare professional and the Democratic candidate for State Assembly District 75, and Elizabeth Lavertu, the Democratic candidate for State Assembly District 71.

I want to thank Tisa Rodriguez, chair of the Riverside County Democratic Party, for once again moderating and facilitating, and as always, graciously.

Please check out this important information about the Schools and Communities First campaign from CTA at this link. Also, please consider donating to one of these efforts to assist frontline health care professionals in the Inland Empire - to help with face shields, go here, to help with face masks, go here and to donate to a national fund for face masks, go here

Remember, you can watch the video of the CA42 Virtual Town Hall here
