Happy weekend –

I hope that you are healthy and staying active and connected this week. My office has been hard at work, helping many constituents with various issues. If you have a question or unresolved case involving a federal agency, please do not hesitate to contact my office for assistance.

Getting America Back to Work

Image

This week, I was appointed to President Trump’s Congressional Task Force on Reopening the American Economy.

As we pivot from a shutdown of our economy due to the coronavirus outbreak, it’s important to keep the president’s track record of tremendous results in mind as we move to restore the economy to its former brilliance. President Trump believes in the American people to be the masters of their own economic destinies, as do I. I am grateful to be included on this team, and I look forward to assisting the president with his tireless efforts to make America greater than ever before.

Connecting with Constituents

Image

A few days ago, I hosted another telephone town hall – our third since the start of this coronavirus outbreak. We discussed a number of topics on this call, including issues that small business owners are having with the Small Business Administration and how to get America back to work. Click the link to listen to the call in its entirety.

Small Business Loans

Since the inception of the Paycheck Protection Program, over 19,000 Arizona businesses have been approved for just under 5 billion dollars in loans. My office has been in constant contact with business owners who are navigating these loan applications, and we will continue to assist constituents who reach out for guidance.

Unemployment Insurance Questions

My office receives many questions about unemployment insurance. Because unemployment claims are processed at the state level, we refer inquiring constituents to the Arizona Department of Economic Security and their state legislators for assistance. Click this link for more information.

Tax Day is July 15

Tax Day is normally on April 15, but this year, it has been moved to July 15 – for both federal and state taxes. However, if you are expecting a refund, you are encouraged to submit your filing as soon as possible.

For Veterans

If you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath, send the VA a secure message or call first before coming in. This will help the VA prepare for the best next steps in your care. They want to ensure you get the care you need while keeping you as safe as possible. For more information, please click this link.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

Image

I was pleased to see that Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will be receiving over $20 million from the FAA to help it weather the current coronavirus crisis. These funds, as well as $10 million I helped to secure for construction of a new air traffic control tower, will ensure that this airport is well-positioned to emerge as a major hub once our country reopens for business.

Thank You

Many people have answered the call of duty to serve our East Valley communities during this time. This week, I wanted to highlight our farmers, grocery store employees, truck drivers, and warehouse operators who are reporting for duty every day. Arizona’s Fifth District salutes and honors you.
