Today I am in Washington, D.C. to be sworn in as the newest Democratic member of the House of Representatives.

More than 14,000 DNC supporters made a donation directly to my campaign -- and I can't tell you how critical that was in helping bring home a win in PA-18.

Republicans poured $10 million into my district to try and beat me -- and you can bet they're ready to spend massive amounts of money to try to take out other Democrats this year. If we learned anything in the Pennsylvania special election, it's that thousands of people giving what they can are able to overcome Republican super PACs and special interests -- but only if people like you step up, Samuel.

While wins like mine give us a reason to celebrate, they also give Republicans a reason to worry -- and to get ready to hit us with all they've got.
