Since its launch, Run for Something has been committed to supporting young candidates who are representative of their communities and can make meaningful progress on combating discrimination. 

And this month, we’re putting our values into practice by investing in progressive LGBTQIA+ candidates who are ready to change their communities for the better.

From “Don’t Say Gay” legislation to limiting gender-affirming care, an increasingly extremist GOP is bombarding the LGBTQIA+ community with discriminatory legislation nationwide. 

And right now, LGBTQIA+ folks make up only 3% of state legislators nationwide, holding just 226 out of 7,572 elected seats. We must elect 316 more LGBTQIA+ candidates to state legislatures to get equitable representation and stop extremist policymaking in its tracks.
