"What will you do to help Americans right now in the throes of addiction, who are struggling to get the treatment they need?"

Friend,

It’s the question that was asked …and asked again …at this week's presidential debate. But it was never really answered.

The overdose crisis steals the lives of more than 100,000 Americans each year. It is a public health emergency that impacts all of us – our loved ones, our families, and our communities. Americans, especially those who are at most at risk of overdosing, deserve real answers.

We take this crisis seriously and we know you do, too. That’s why we need your help.

TAKE ACTION: Sign our petition demanding our leaders respond to the overdose crisis with the urgency it deserves. We need leaders with health-based solutions, that will improve public health, strengthen communities, and save lives nationwide.

Americans need leaders with a plan to save lives and keep communities safe.

We need leaders who will expand access to evidence-based treatment, including medications like methadone and buprenorphine that treat opioid use disorder.

We need leaders who will invest in lifesaving overdose prevention services, including greater access to the overdose reversal drug naloxone, drug checking tools like fentanyl test strips, syringe service programs, and overdose prevention centers.

We need leaders who will end punishment-based approaches to fentanyl and related substances, which stigmatize and harm people who use drugs. And we need to start talking about safe supply to address the dangers of our increasingly potent, unpredictable drug supply.

Sign our petition today to demand that our leaders provide a plan to address the overdose crisis and help those struggling with substance use disorder. We must have an answer.

At the Drug Policy Alliance, we have a plan. We are working hard to implement real solutions by passing federal and state legislation that would remove barriers to effective interventions, monitor overdose trends, support research, and allocate much-needed funding to support lifesaving overdose prevention programs.

Thank you for standing with us. It’s going to be a challenging few months. But with you on our side, we won’t stop fighting. Together, we will persevere.
