Dear Friend --
We revamped our COVID-19 website with increased functionality and innovative features, including a data dashboard, to offer ease of accessibility, more data transparency and enhance the overall user experience.
We need to be transparent and release as much data and information to the public as possible. Our new dashboard and website give the public real-time information about the COVID19 crisis.
Data Dashboard
The website now features an interactive data dashboard <[link removed]> that provides the public with information regarding positive cases, hospitalizations, demographic breakdowns and more. The dashboard allows the public to see more granular data than previously released and now provides city comparisons among other jurisdictions. The elements of the dashboard are updated as information comes in so that the public can get the most up-to-date information available.
Streamlined Design
With a modern and clean layout, the redesigned website features content strategically located in a more intuitive interface with simplified text and image-based graphics. The site has been streamlined and organized with the end user in mind. Information has been curated specifically for the general public, businesses, health care providers and those who serve high-risk populations so site visitors can now find the information they need quickly and easily.
Up to Date Information
Commonly accessed content such as COVID-19 symptoms and prevention and information about the Long Beach City Health Officer’s Orders is prominently featured along with daily case counts and updates. Testing information and appointment scheduling is also featured for the five testing locations within Long Beach. The City continues to identify opportunities for additional testing sites and recently added two new City testing locations at Cabrillo and Jordan High School.
The new responsive site is also easier to navigate on mobile devices. The “Help and Volunteer” page and process has been updated to facilitate more seamless registration for medical and non-medical volunteers and supports the ability for the public to register to donate goods, services or funding. Users can also still easily screen and schedule appointments for free drive-through testing at the various sites in the City.
In addition to providing various online resources, the City continues to staff an information hotline for questions regarding the COVID-19 outbreak (562.570.INFO) and a business hotline for employers and their employees (562.570.4BIZ).
Thank you,
Mayor Robert Garcia
