And do we need a win more than ever. This week we saw protests across the country from people who put economic drivers ahead of scientific evidence that says social distancing and shelter-in-place orders are working.
What’s more, our Liar-in-Chief continues sending mixed messages about where his administration stands on keeping the country safe versus trying to make money for wealthy shareholders.
One day after he announced that state governors would “call your own shots” when it comes to deciding when and how to re-open their communities, Trump tweeted for the “Liberation” of Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia -- inciting protest movements and directly contradicting himself.
John, we have 45 days to win our primary here in Iowa, and I need your help.
Joni Ernst should defend state governors for trying to keep their people safe; instead she defers to Trump. Joni Ernst could be demanding more robust relief for working-class Iowans in the next COVID relief bill; instead she follows Mitch McConnell’s lead and refuses to speak up for us.
The current, one-time $1200 “relief” check is crumbs; frankly it’s a slap in the face to hardworking Americans who have suddenly lost their incomes through no fault of their own. Other developed nations are providing far more support over a 3-4 month period to see citizens through the crisis. The U.S. can and should do the same. Shame on Ernst for not advocating for her fellow Iowans.
When I’m the junior senator from Iowa, you can count on me speaking up for you and all Americans who are sick and tired of this oligarchy.
I will fight for health care as a basic human right. I will fight for universal childcare, debt-free public college and a Green New Deal that will not only save the planet but will provide a much-need boost to our economy and will create good jobs.
