Following Ayanna’s advocacy, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) just announced that they will begin releasing racial and ethnic data on COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.
With your support, Ayanna and her colleagues in Congress led the fight to ensure the collection and reporting of this vitally important data. Thank you for making your voice heard and supporting the push for racial justice in the midst of this crisis.
This is a major victory, which will help us identify and address racial disparities in the response to COVID-19, but we have much more work to do.
Ayanna is running for re-election to continue legislating and advocating for justice and equity for all of our communities. Bold, activist leadership in Congress has never been more important, and we need your help to ensure this movement has the resources to keep up the fight.
Racial justice, healthcare justice, and economic justice must be centered in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why collecting this data is so important. But we must also take this opportunity to address the deep inequities and disparities — in access to health care, healthy living conditions, and economic security — that made communities of color even more vulnerable to this virus.
Ayanna will continue to ensure that those closest to the pain are closest to the power, and will do everything she can to fight the entrenched disparities and inequities in our communities.
