Hello, Friends —

Last night, Donald Trump delivered the most dominant debate performance in debate history! Meanwhile, Joe Biden was bludgeoned so badly that he will likely have to be identified by his dental records after this debate.

President Trump showed focus, clarity, boldness, vision, and most of all, he showed empathy for the people who have been the victims of the rampant illegal immigration Joe Biden has allowed to take hold. President Trump’s message is going to grow our movement while the other side is in utter chaos.

There is not a single problem America faces that Joe Biden provided a single solution for. President Trump talked about lowering our taxes, getting our regulatory policy on the right track, becoming energy dominant again, sealing the border, and making sure that Americans can achieve their economic potential to live out their dreams again.

Joe Biden demonstrated that he is a man in decline who leads a nation in decline. I refuse to join in that decline. Make no mistake, the Democratic Party is in total turmoil right now and Joe Biden is toast.

REP. GAETZ INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO REQUIRE THE IRS TO ACCEPT BITCOIN AS PAYMENT

Image

This week, I introduced groundbreaking legislation to modernize our tax system by requiring the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury to implement a program to allow federal income tax to be paid with Bitcoin.

Earlier this month, I had the honor of attending the second inauguration of El Salvador’s populist president, Nayib Bukele. While there, I witnessed how Bitcoin, the world’s most popular decentralized digital currency, has helped promote financial stability and job creation in Central America after El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender in 2021. Following the success El Salvador has had with Bitcoin and the recent boom in cryptocurrency, I was inspired to introduce legislation that would allow taxpayers to pay their federal income tax with Bitcoin.

My legislation will promote innovation, increase efficiency, and offer more flexibility to American taxpayers. This is a bold step toward a future where digital currencies play a vital role in our financial system, ensuring that the U.S. remains at the forefront of technological advancement.

REP. GAETZ DEMANDS ANSWERS FROM MIAMI FEDERAL COURT ABOUT TARGETING OF JUDGE AILEEN CANNON IN TRUMP CLASSIFIED-DOCUMENTS CASE

On Thursday, I sent an oversight request to Cecilia Altonaga, the Chief Judge of the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida, in response to a report of potential unethical pressure brought upon Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over President Donald Trump’s classified-documents case.

The New York Times reported last week that two judges, including Chief Judge Altonaga, exerted undue political pressure on Judge Cannon to drop the Trump-documents case and allow another, more liberal judge, to take it.

REP. GAETZ APPLAUDS SPEAKER JOHNSON’S USE OF BLAG TO SUPPORT STEVE BANNON

The January 6th Committee destroyed evidence, was improperly constituted, and concealed video of Nancy Pelosi taking the blame for the attack in the immediate aftermath. No one should be sitting in a jail cell because they would not comply with the absurd musings of a committee unlike any before in our nation’s history.

On Wednesday, Speaker Johnson did the right thing by using the little-known Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG) to declare that the official view of the House is that the January 6th Committee was illegitimate! Following a 3-2 vote by the BLAG, House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk, with the help of America First Legal, filed, in support of Steve Bannon’s emergency motion with the Supreme Court to stay out of prison, an amicus brief that declares the House sees the January 6th Committee as illegitimate.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court recently rejected Steve Bannon’s appeal to overturn his conviction. While I am disappointed by the ruling of the Court, I will never stop fighting to prevent this miscarriage of justice.

REP. GAETZ RESPONDS TO SUPREME COURT RULING ON MURTHY V. MISSOURI

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court handed down their final ruling in Murthy v. Missouri, a suit filed by the states of Missouri and Louisiana arguing that the federal government has been exerting illegal pressure against social media companies in order to censor conservative opinions that criticize the Biden Administration. The Court’s disappointing decision held that states were not harmed by government and Big Tech censorship. This should be a wake-up call to all Americans.

Even with “conservative” judges, like Amy Coney Barrett, we can’t expect any help from the courts. If we want to return to a free internet, we must be even stronger in Congress and ensure that Biden is not in the White House in 2025. A much-needed house cleaning is in order.

REP. GAETZ SPEAKS ON ONE AMERICA NEWS

I joined John Hines on One America News this past Saturday to discuss the House’s recent contempt of Congress vote against Attorney General Merrick Garland.

I voted to hold Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, but I think we held him in contempt for the wrong conduct. The real problem is that Garland is withholding communications with Alvin Bragg, Letitia James, and other DOJ officials who engaged in weaponized, coordinated lawfare against President Trump!

Additionally, I spoke about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies being implemented throughout our Armed Forces. DEI is a racist and dangerous agenda that compromises our military’s readiness. With the House’s passage of this year’s NDAA, we are one step closer to eradicating DEI from the military!

TEAM GAETZ ATTENDS WEST POINT CLASS OF 2028 FAREWELL DINNER

Image

My district team was honored to attend the farewell dinner for five of our eight future West Point Class of 2028 cadets on Saturday evening. This is the most appointments Florida’s First District has ever gotten into West Point in a single year.

I am so proud of all our military academy cadets and midshipmen as they begin their journey to become the future leaders of our country. Godspeed!

Matt Gaetz Introduces Bill To Allow Bitcoin Payments On Federal Income Tax

“Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is introducing a bill that would allow the federal income tax to be paid with Bitcoin, The Daily Wire can exclusively reveal. The legislation, if enacted, would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 with language ordering the Treasury secretary to develop a plan for accepting the popular decentralized digital currency. ‘By enabling taxpayers to use Bitcoin for federal tax payments, we can promote innovation, increase efficiency, and offer more flexibility to American citizens,’ Gaetz told The Daily Wire.”

Bipartisan House Legal Group Votes J6 Committee Is ‘Illegitimate’

“The decision to buttress Bannon’s appeal is another instance of Johnson seeking to assuage far-right members of the GOP caucus such as Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) who previously called for a vote by BLAG on the J6 committee. ‘I believe the only way Steve Bannon does not go to jail is if there is a vote taken by the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG) — to tell the court that it is the official view of the House of Representatives that the J6 committee was illegitimate!’ the Florida Republican previously stated.”

Gaetz Probes Miami Federal Court Over Potential ‘Unethical Pressure’ Targeting Judge In Trump Case

“‘The New York Times recently reported that multiple individuals report that potentially unethical pressure was brought to bear upon Judge Aileen Cannon in your district (‘Judge in Trump Documents Case Rejected Suggestions to Step Aside,’ June 20, 2024). Specifically, multiple anonymous sources note that two judges have publicized their attempts to convince Judge Cannon to step aside in the Trump classified-documents case,’ Gaetz wrote in the letter. ‘The timing (apparently well into the litigation) and the fact that the New York Times has described this effort as ‘extraordinary’ do warrant at least a reach out from Congress.’”
