Samuel --

>From the runaway success of Donald Trump to unambiguously
weak performances by ... pretty much everyone else in the field,
you couldn't script a more interesting story than this
year's Republican primary. And there isn't a writers' room
in Hollywood who could come up with a scene like last
night's GOP debate -- or an audience who would believe it was
real.

But here we are after the second debate of 2015 -- Jeb Bush
defended the failed foreign policy of his brother (George W.
Bush -- you might remember him!) and GOP candidates fought
with each other over the Supreme Court's decision on
marriage equality and whether elected officials should have
to obey the law. Meanwhile, Donald Trump got the biggest
applause of the evening for his outrageous positions on
immigration, including claiming that the 14th Amendment to
the Constitution is unconstitutional. I can't wait to see
those post-debate poll numbers, although I can probably
guess what they're going to tell us: This is great news for
Democrats.

But if we don't have our heads in the game from day one,
we cannot capitalize on our advantage:

Every candidate on that stage last night showed serious
flaws and weaknesses. I mean, threatening to shut down the
government over defunding the vital women's health services
that Planned Parenthood provides is a brilliant electoral
strategy -- if your goal is to help elect Democrats.

But last night showed us something else, as well. Republican
voters are enthusiastic about this primary. They're fired up
by the ideas from their candidates -- which is why we heard
all 11 double down on such truly terrible policies -- and they
cannot wait to vote in 2016.

So if we want to keep the White House in the hands of
Democrats, our work starts now. It's on us to show that
we're just as committed and enthusiastic as the other side.

Add your name to mine and pitch in $3 or whatever you
can today if you're in to help build a solid foundation to
support Democrats in 2016:

Thanks for everything you've done to help get us to this
point, Samuel -- we can't do it without you.
